The marina is located in the Matakana River at the Sandspit Yacht club.  In the heart of the Matakana vineyard region with bush walks and beaches all around, the protected harbour is a great jumping off point for trips out to Kawau Island, the Hauraki Gulf, Gt Barrier Island and for those heading north.

The marina is a 40 minute drive from Auckland Harbour bridge, turning off at the country town of Warkworth.  The stunning Omaha and Pakiri beaches and world recognised Boat Island Marine Reserve are short drives to the North.

The entrance to the estuary is limited to a draft of 1.5metres at low tide.

Managed by the Sandspit Marina Society, the marina is a division of the Sandspit Yacht Club. All berth licence holders are members of the Society and the Yacht Club.

Sandspit Marina is a member of the New Zealand Marina Operators Association.
